Start before sunrise and the trail is in shade; two hours later you are on an exposed ridge in full sun. Photon Shift runs a photochromic layer that reacts to UV rather than heat, so it does not darken falsely inside a car or on a cloudy warm day. Range runs from 62% down to 14% visible light transmission.

Photon Shift runs a Cat. 1 → Cat. 3 lens at 23 g, which suits full-day coverage for ridgelines, scree and exposed traverse. If your route crosses snow or glacier you need Category 4 filtration instead — take the Glacier Shield. If you are unsure, email us your route and we will tell you straight.
Rinse under running water before wiping — trail dust is abrasive and most coating damage happens when grit is wiped dry into the surface. Use the supplied microfibre pouch, never a shirt. Avoid solvents and sunscreen on the lens; DEET and alcohol will attack the coating permanently.
Two years from delivery, covering hinge failure, frame cracking under normal use, coating delamination and failure of the rubber grip components. It does not cover cleaning scratches, lost pairs or impact damage — though replacement lenses are cheap and available.
